The alternative

The rising cost of oil and climate change, in addition to a host of other social and environmental factors, have obliged humans to develop new high-performance power plants, in relation to which electric steam boilers play a major role. This device is a heat generator which uses electricity as a source of power instead of the traditional burning of combustibles.

As a rule, the body of these boilers houses the electrical resistances and all the valves and instruments required to interconnect the process. Thus, the steam is generated by means of heat transfer at a constant pressure. These electric steam boilers feature a horizontal structure and electric power ranging between 25 and 2500 KW.

This type of boiler is often used in the creation of clean environments, due to the fact they generate extremely pure steam. Electric steam boilers are used primarily in the chemical, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food industries, both for heating all kinds of fluids and in sterilisation processes. They are also used in the treatment of several different kinds of surfaces, laboratories, pressing and the handling of leather.

Characteristics

The main characteristics of electric steam boilers are:

  • Reduced loss of radiation, due to the thick insulation.
  • Easy to access for purposes of maintenance and inspection.
  • High volume of steam.
  • Excellent heat transfer.
  • Different powers and pressures: design pressure of 9 bar and maximum service pressure of 8 bar, and special models are under development.
  • 100% efficiency level.
  • Installation and user friendly.
  • No emission of combustion products or other contaminants.

Other special electric steam boilers with different levels of steam production exist, made of stainless steel, ATEX, with a service pressure of up to 20 bar, double feed pump, automatic salt purge and sludge purge. All boilers are supplied with all the required safety and control features.
